In this episode, building a chimney cupboard, Norm used the following tools:
Items in bold represent the first appearance of that particular tool.
In this episode, Norm introduced us to recycled wood.
Note the red insert, the miter gauge, and the Unifence—all new this episode. It's most likely that this was the first episode with the new Unisaw that Norm acquired in the mid '90s. In Table Saw 101 in Season 19 (filmed in 2006), Norm mentioned that this Unisaw had arrived 14 years earlier, coinciding nicely with the 1994 filming of this 1995 Season episode.
In fairness, there has been a 34-895 in the shop for a while—probably coming with either the shaper or the bandsaw. The one used here could have been that one, but it's more likely it's the brand new one with that came with the Unisaw.
Norm used a plain board (looked like Baltic birch plywood, actually) clamped to the new Unifence as a sacrificial fence. It's likely that the Biesemeyer auxiliary fence he's had for more than three years wouldn't fit. Don't worry, though—it'll be back…in five years.
The safety speech included video of a crosscut operation on the radial arm saw.
Field trip was to an antique dealer's home, Lenox, Massachusetts.
