These slick things allow you to use ordinary sheets of sand paper to make up sanding drums. The drums themselves come in a variety of sizes and include instructions on making a template for cutting the sandpaper to fit. It was used by Norm a lot until, as he says on the NYW webpage, “it died.” They're a great tool, unless you can have an oscillating spindle sander. Norm used them mostly in the drill press, but there were a couple of occasions when he used them in a corded drill. Norm has also used a conventional sanding drum with pre-made sleeves, but I'm not going to separate the instances of that from the use of these. |
