There are inexpensive sandblast kits available for home use. They attach to one's compressor and apparently can do a credible job. Norm used this to remove some upper layers of finish in a multi layer finish distressing project.
The top picture is a generic blaster which has many of the same distinctive features of the one Norm used. The bottom one is the reverse side of DeVilbiss' Excell blaster. DeVilbiss is part of the Pentair group which includes Porter-Cable and Delta, sponsors of The New Yankee Workshop. What do you think? Theirs or generic?
