Although files are essentially metalworking tools, Norm does occasionally have use for one on wood—they're mostly to work metal, however.

The pictures at left include the end profile of each file. They are, from top to bottom: flat, half round, square, round (or rat tail), and triangular (sometimes called taper) files.
