After a mortise has been roughed out by a drill, this tool is used to square the corners. Once that's done, the cheeks and ends are pared smooth by regular flat chisels.
I first noticed this chisel in the deck chair episode (1412), but somehow neglected to grab a picture and write a note about it. Later I came to realize it had been used in other episodes, too. I found the inaugural one (1209) in my April 2007 run-through of the episodes.
