Norm has used a combination square in nearly every episode (my database indicates more than 50 identifiable appearances). While some of them have surely been hardware store specials (not that there's anything wrong with that), and some were compact (6" blade) versions, on several occasions he has used what can clearly be seen to be a Starrett.
Norm's Starrett appears to be an C11H-12-4R. “C” denoting satin chrome blade, “11” meaning cast iron head, “H” denoting head only (that's just a guess—he certainly might have gotten a kit with the protractor and centering heads, too), “12” meaning 12" blade, and “4R” representing divisions of fractions on the blade.
